Fundraiser Training: The Real Key to Donor Support
By Shirley Trauger, Vice President

In this tough economic environment, fundraisers are under greater pressure than ever to bring in more dollars, often with fewer staff and resources. Immediate needs must be met knowing that a sustainable, long-term program is the real key to donor support.

Everyone involved with fundraising today wants to know how to become more effective, how to build his or her skills and understand best practices in a field that is not “business as usual.”

In response to Meals On Wheels Association of America’s desire to build its members’ capacity in fundraising, Schultz & Williams has developed a multi-day, direct training program focused on practical solution- and skill-building. With our experts’ presentation of new ideas from the field today, the program blends hands-on-learning and takeaways that address the situations challenging each attendee.

Combining the following modules, the training is customized to fit your goals:

  • Establishing a “culture of philanthropy” where fundraising is an organizational priority
  • Development 101: Which fundraising elements are best in your program?
  • Crafting a compelling case for support
  • Evaluating and improving your annual giving program
  • Major Gifts
  • The Board's role in fundraising
  • Building a fundraising plan that will work for you: goals and resources needed

Focus on fundraising on both the strategic and tactical levels, and come away a more effective and energized professional.

S&W’s next training session is being organized for nonprofits in Northern Arizona by the Sedona Community Center. This “Sustainable Funding Institute” has been partially underwritten by the Arizona Community Foundation.
