November 2011 – The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House (PRMH) has retained Schultz and Williams (S&W) to prepare a strategic development plan, as the organization continues to grow and serve a critical need in our community. S&W will conduct a study comprised of internal and external interviews, which will be used to analyze the current program and future needs. A Planning Task Force comprised of board and staff will be created to work with the S&W consultants on this project.

PRMH provides a caring environment for families whose children are receiving critical care at area hospitals. It was founded in 1974 and was the first in the world – now a model for close to 300 houses around the globe. PMRH is a home: families can find comfort in a warm bed and delicious meal, all provided through a network of volunteers. The Philadelphia area has two houses, offering a total of 63 rooms.

Over 90% of funding comes from individuals and corporate donors; the remaining 10% is from Ronald McDonald House Charities. The cost of a night at PRMH is over $75, which includes housing and supportive services. Families are asked to contribute $15 a night, but they are never turned away because of an inability to pay. Imagine a family's relief, knowing that this aspect of their journey is taken care of – they don't have to worry about the expense and hardship of living in a hotel while their child is receiving treatment.

Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House is a welcome respite. The support of the staff, volunteers and other families is an incredible gift for those who need assistance during very difficult days.
