March 2008– The Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park have joined the ranks as a Schultz & Williams client this month. The Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park hired Schultz & Williams to conduct a feasibility study to assess the potential for a $30 million capital campaign to build and maintain an interpretive center. Located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Moccasin Bend represents one of the most important Native American sites inside any major U.S. city. Looping the Tennessee River at the base of Lookout Mountain, Moccasin Bend reveals an unbroken chain of habitation by diverse Native American cultures, beginning with the earliest inhabitants of North America and culminating with the Cherokee. Spanish explorers in the 16th century found the Bend to have the largest population of Native Americans in the region. Spanish trade items from this era are among the documented treasures of Moccasin Bend. Appropriately named, the peninsula mimics the shape of an Indian moccasin. For more history on the park, visit www.moccasinbendpark.org. Schultz & Williams is uniquely qualified to perform a campaign planning study for The Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park for a number of reasons. "We have wide ranging experience in working with planners and architects on the development of exhibiting attractions and institutions," L. Scott Schultz, President, said. "We have worked with the National Park Service on a project at Independence National Historic Park, and we have participated in the development of public/private partnerships. Additionally, we have performed numerous campaign feasibility studies for organizations of national interest such as the American Association of Museums and for local attractions such as the Pink Palace Family of Museums in Memphis." Founded in 1987, Schultz & Williams is a national consulting firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Today S&W works with nonprofits throughout the United States and continues to exemplify its legacy as one of the first firms in the country to combine the principles of development, management and marketing into our consulting services—an approach that proves successful for nearly every client challenge. |
